Greetings humans!
Paperchase sales are really difficult to avoid, aren't they? Especially when they're selling A5 Pennybridge Filofaxes for under £30. Since I seem to still have an addiction to buying new organisers needed a new iPad case, I thought it would be a good idea to give this a shot. I use the A5 organsier to plan my blog posts, which is a great, yet somewhat cliché, example of paper and technology working together.
The Filofax website says that it comes with the following inserts: transparent flyleaf; week on one page multi-language diary; ruler/page marker - black; six blank tab index - cream; white ruled notepad. I received all but the week on one page diary, instead receiving the vertical week on two pages diary with appointments.
The material is non-leather, but very similar to the grain of the Finsbury, maintaining a professional finish. The organiser itself is removable from the casing (and has smaller rings than other A5s at 20mm), and the left hand side has six credit card slots, two larger pockets, an elasticated pen loop and a slot for a notepad to go into. I don't have anything in these pockets at the moment, but the larger ones fit iPhones well.
The right hand side has space for the iPad, which fits quite well, with slots cut so that access can still be gained to all of the exterior buttons.
Overall, I am very impressed by the quality of the organiser. It feels durable, is not easily scratched and the elasticated pen loop is wonderful. I also like how it's possible to remove the organiser and just use it as a tech case - something incredibly valuable, especially if you don't need a diary with you everywhere you go.
However, there is one issue which I think may be worth mentioning. The iPad does fit well, although when the organiser is closed and carried about, it tends to fall out of its place. Although this is not really that much of an issue in itself, I'm a little confused as to why there is nothing to hold the iPad in place like in the Pennybridge sent to Adamsfilo for review here. (I will be contacting Filofax and asking why this is the case - I did buy it in the sale from Paperchase, however it doesn't follow that parts should be missing).
Aside from this tiny, tiny issue (I may be lazy but I can push a tablet about 5cm without complaining), I love this organiser and would recommend it despite the fault that I have found.
